Welcome to 3rd grade! 

We are going to learn a lot with a hands-on, real-world approach to learning. My personal teaching philosophy is based on a quote from George Evans and states, "Every child can learn. Just not on the same day, or in the same way.". I want to make learning fun and the lessons memorable. Most importantly, I want my class to leave 3rd grade with the confidence that they can do anything they want if they are determined, as well as how to be kind humans. 

What are some things we learn in 3rd grade?
In English Language Arts we learn about Classic Tales, Animal Classification, The Human Body, Roman Civilization, Light and Sounds, The Viking Age, Astronomy, Native Americans, Early Exploration, Colonial America and Ecology.
In Math we learn Place Value, Rounding and Estimating, Graphing Skills, Multiplication and Division, Fractions, Time, Length, Liquid Volume and Mass, Perimeter and Area, and 2D Shapes, 
In Social Studies we learn about Geography, Economics, Early American History, and Tennessee History.
In Science we learn about Matter, Energy,  Plants and Animals, Ecosystems, Space, Water, Weather, and Climate.
In Handwriting we learn about penmanship as well as proper letter formation in manuscript and cursive.
